For those of you who have seen "An American Crime", which came out in 2007, starring Ellen Page and Katherine Keener, I'm putting up a thread dedicated to Sylvia Likens.
This poor girl was tortured to death by a woman her parents left her with while they were on the road. They didn't even know this woman, but since her daughters were friends with Sylvia and her sister Jennie, they let them stay with them.

I thought that "The Girl Next Door" was a bit more descriptive and graphic...but they changed the names...but it is a fitting tribute to Sylvia to have 2 major motion picture companies produce movies about her ordeal.
But I feel that it was not fair to Judith
Its amazing that with the star power Ellen Page had at that point and the fact that "An American Crime" was the talk at the Sundance festival that they still couldnt find a distributer.
Katherine Keener deserved a supporting actress nomination for this.

I read her story a long time ago at crimelibrary.com (I'm not sure if that site is still in operation, but it gave quite thurough details of this incident) and I still think of it every so often, it's so horrible what they did to that poor girl..I also read that her brother committed suicide years after this happened.. I hope Gertrude is burning in hell with Josef right now
Okay, I am not a long neck. I am a Big Mouth. But I am all alone, I am.
